Directions to Lotus via Highway 6 driving from Natchitoches
Condensed Directions:
Drive west on Hwy. 6. Turn right on the Shady Grove Road. Turn right on the Old Bethel Church Road. Turn right on the Lotus in the Pines Driveway.
Expanded Directions:
Drive west on Hwy. 6. About 8 miles from Northwestern State University you will come to Coldwater/Hagewood Community. Keep going and you will pass Pleasure Pools and the Provencal Road, 117, on your left. Keep going on Hwy. 6 for nine-tenths of a mile and turn right on to the Shady Grove Road. It only goes to the right. There is a blue sign for Old Bethel Baptist Church along with a white sign for Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Go about 1.6 miles on the Shady Grove Road. You will see a paved road that only goes to the right. This is Old Bethel Church Road. Turn right on Old Bethel Church Road. There is a blue sign for Old Bethel Baptist Church and a white house with a blue-green roof on that corner. Go about 2.1 miles. About half way you will think you are lost. You will see a gravel road that goes left called New Roads (Do not turn on this road.) and then soon after an old white house on your right. You are not lost. Keep going. You will see woods on both sides of the narrow road. On the left of the road you will see a blue sign for Old Bethel Baptist Church mounted with brick columns and on your right you will see a mailbox nailed to a pine tree with 509, Rodgers and a Lotus in the Pines sign on the box. Turn right on the dirt driveway immediately past the mailbox. Park in front of the house and walk in the front gate. At the front door of the house, walk around the house to your right. You will see the studio behind the house down by our pond. Go out the gate by the deck and follow the path to the studio.
Directions to Lotus via I-49 coming from Natchitoches
Drive west on Highway 6 to I-49. Head north on I-49. Exit Posey Road off of I-49. Go over the interstate. The four- lane road turns into a dirt road. At that point you will see a blue sign for Old Bethel Church Road. Continue straight on the dirt road for approximately 2 miles. You will come to a Y in the road and you will see another blue sign for Old Bethel Church. Go left at the Y in the road. This dirt road turns back into a paved road and at that point you will see a two-story house on your right. After a curve the road turns into a straight away with a canopy of trees overhead. As you come to the end of the canopy you will see a black mailbox with a sign for Lotus in the Pines on the top. Turn left onto the dirt road before the mailbox. This is our driveway. Park in front of the house. Enter the garden by walking through the gate and continue towards the front door and cross the porch to your right. Continue on towards the back gate. Walk down to the studio by the pond. You are there. Congratulations. If you do not want to drive on a dirt road then I suggest going to Highway 6 and following the directions to Lotus from that direction. It will take a little longer and there is a small section of this road which is not paved. You are in the country so watch out for deer and potholes.
Directions to Lotus via Hwy. 6 coming from Robeline/Many
Drive east on Hwy. 6. About 5.1 miles from Robeline you will come to the Shady Grove Road on your left. You will see a blue sign for Old Bethel Baptist Church along with a white sign for Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Turn left on Shady Grove Road and this road only goes to the left. Go about 1.7 miles. Turn right on Bethel Church Road and this road only goes to the right. Go about 2.1 miles. On your right you will see a mailbox nailed to a pine tree with 509 on the box. Turn right onto our driveway. Park in front of the house and walk through the garden to the studio behind the house near the pond.
